Climate change 'promises' stressful air travel

Passengers on transatlantic flights are currently experiencing stressful journeys due to climate change caused by CO2 emissions leading to increased turbulence.

Specialists suggest wearing seat belts throughout the journey.

The latest research predicts an increase in severe turbulence by 149%, mild turbulence by 59%, mild to moderate turbulence by 75%, all due to climate change, as explained by Dr Paul Wiliams, meteorologist at Reading University in the UK. The major cause triggering this phenomenon is the continuing growth of the global aircraft fleet.

Researchers are raising the alarm about the huge amount of CO2 accumulating in the atmosphere, which, besides generating strong winds at high altitudes, is causing substantial increases in global temperatures.
